MOCI was established to be the regulatory body in the Sultanate around areas of commerce and industry, with a specific focus on protecting intellectual property rights in compliance with relevant laws and conventions, in collaboration with concerned bodies.

The Authority was established for development of small and medium enterprises and to become the focal point for such enterprises for funding requirements, advisory services, local and regional linkages, etc.
